Cliff Shomette

Cliff Shomette 300x225 Cliff Shomette Hi everybody, as you probably know by now my name is Cliff Shomette. I’m trying to learn WordPress so bear with me.

Do you know me – maybe not. Like many of you I went to Mesquite High School and graduated in 1983. I had some good friends there but have lost contact with most of them as I moved around over the years. I sure hope you get back in touch with me to remind me of the good times we had.

If I remember right the bell rang at 3:30 and by 3:31. I was usually out of there. I was busy riding my motorcycle, listening to music - I love listening to all my old records on vinyl and playing with electronics. Things haven’t changed much. My passions are still music, electronics, motorcycles, computers and in the last couple of years – Search Engine Optimization.

Do you know that guy that can just program the remote or hook up a stereo of fix something – even without the book. Well, that’s me. I’ve always had an interest in these things and sort of have a natural ability to figure them out. It’s what I do… Over the years I have traveled the country and have had some really good jobs in the IT field and even managed to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. I’ve worked in computers since 1996 and really enjoy it.  Of all the things I do, the one thing I am most passionate about is computer repair. I just love diving into a problem and fixing it. I’ve had a few good jobs. Check out my resume.

I mentioned one of my passions is music. It has always been that way and likely will always be. I have about 9000 mp3′s and a record collection of over 850 records. I don’t have TV reception at all – no antenna or cable. I do however have Netflix and watch movies quite a bit. More likely, I’ll be listening to music.

I have a degree in electronics from Texas State Technical College in Waco. It’s just something I wanted to do and boy was it hard. How does Applied Calculus and Advanced Circuit Analysis sound – yea! I do understand these things though.

As always, I do have a motorcycle. I think there has only been one time in my life when I didn’t have a motorcycle. I have a Yamaha FJR1300. It’s big and it’s fast and I’m a lot more scared of them than I was when I was younger. I guess that’s normal.

I think it’s important to follow your passions in life and that’s pretty much what I’ve done – for better or worse. I now live in Greenville Texas not far from Commerce for the one and only reason to live close to my 10 year old son. He is awesome. If I’m not hanging out with him I’m probably doing one of the things I mentioned above.

I realize that most of you don’t share these common technical interests so if you have some friends you’d like to suggest, I’m open.

Oh, by the way. I am single but I would love to meet a wonderful woman who can share life’s ups and downs with – somebody I can love and can love me. Anyway – more later…
